Make Your Move

Last week 45 of our Year 12 students had the opportunity through the ‘Aim Higher’ scheme to attend ‘Make your Move’ conference at the University of Birmingham. There were a variety of activities on offer which we could choose from and we first attended a very amusing and informative lecture on study skills, followed by an extremely uplifting motivational talk.

The students also decided to participate in subject specific workshops which included one in the Robotic department of the School of Engineering where they saw ‘Baxter the Robot’ in action. This was an excellent preview of how robots can be used in the future for our benefit.

One of our students said “We received very good advice that has made us think about our futures.” Another said “The motivational talk was very amusing, we could relate to the speaker who helped us realise we can be successful if we believe that we can.”

A number of our students have been inspired to apply to the University of Birmingham for September next year having realised the broad wealth of degree opportunities offered there.
