John Willmott School

National Citizen Service

Pablo Astray, one of our Year 12 students, took part in National Citizen Service during the half term holiday and has written the following report:

“National Citizen Service has been an amazing experience that has opened many doors for me to follow up. Furthermore it has brought many amazing people into my life. There were 3 phases for me to complete. In Phase 1 I went to Henley Fort Outdoor Education Centre for 4 days and there I took part in multiple fun activities to engage with other young people as a team and for us to get to know each other better. In the 2nd Phase we went to Bishop Latimer Church and Community Gardens, Beeton Road in Winson Green and we collected information from the gardeners and workers about what they have already done and are hoping to do as they develop the gardens.  In the last Phase we had to prepare a campaign to spread the word about the community and in the community and to raise money for them to repair and improve the facilities. I started my funding so that my group and I could create leaflets and posters to spread the word about our community partners. Many teachers from John Willmott School have happily donated over £70 for this campaign. Thank you JWS teachers. I look forward to letting you know more about the development of this project.”
